HHS Awards $50 Million to Assist AI/AN Tribal Efforts Combating the Opioid Overdose Epidemic
About
The Department of Health & Human Service’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has awarded grants of about $50 million to American Indian and Alaska Native tribes to strengthen their efforts to combat the opioid overdose epidemic.
The Tribal Opioid Response grant program aims to address the opioid overdose epidemic in tribal communities by increasing access to culturally appropriate and evidence-based treatment, including medication-assisted treatment using one of the three FDA-approved medications for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD).
