Department of Labor Announces $1 million Competition to Better Connect Transitioning Service Members and Employers.  Department of Labor Veterans' Employment and Training Service (WETS), with in-kind support through participation in testing and review from the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs, established competition to develop a job-matching tool that will be piloted in a Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Employment Workshop at selected base locations.  For more information, click here.

Department of Education requests comment of proposed rulemaking - Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant.  The Department proposes revising the current regulations regarding the eligibility of faith-based entities to participate in the Federal Student Aid programs authorized under title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.  The Secretary is also proposing to simplify the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program.  For more information, click here.

Department of Education requests comment - Formula Grant Electronic Application System of Indian Education (EASIE).  The Department requests comment on the Indian Education Formula Grant (CDFA 84.060A) on the annual submission of the application form the local educational agency and/or tribe.  The award is determined by formula, based upon the reported number of American Indian/Alaska Native students identified in the application, the state per pupil expenditure, and the total appropriations available.  For more information, click here.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Utilities Service (RUS) - Upcoming Funding and comment request on ReConnect Pilot Program.  The Agency is announcing the application window for this second round of funding and requesting comments on the Rural eConnectivity Pilot Program (ReConnect Program).  An essential goal of the ReConnect Program is to expand broadband service to rural areas without sufficient access to broadband program.  For more information, click here.
