The U.S. Department of State offers worldwide career opportunities providing an experience where you will connect with the global community, conduct diplomacy by communicating U.S. foreign policy, and explore different cultures while living and working overseas. 

The U.S. Department of State is currently seeking talented and motivated individuals to fill a number of Foreign Service positions.  

 

Foreign Service Specialists: These positions are similar to warrant officers in the military.  These are specialized positions IT, medical/allied health, engineering, and office/facility management, among others fields. You can find more information here. Consular Fellows:  These are limited-term (up to five year) positions which involve visa interviewing and citizen services, and which require language skills in Arabic, Mandarin, Portuguese or Spanish. You can find more information here.

 

Foreign Service Officers:  These are generalist positions that are divided into five career tracks.  More information about these positions can be found here.  There are two fellowship programs that support graduate study.  More information about the fellowship program can be found here.
